Police officers are hunting for a key suspect who defiled a 7-year-old girl inside a toilet during a wedding ceremony at a church compound in Kiganjo Ward, Kiambu County.
According to a report made at Gatundu Police Station yesterday, the mother had allowed her daughter to use the washrooms within the church premises at about 4pm and became concerned when the minor failed to return. The distraught parent proceeded to check on her only to be met by a gory scene of her helpless child lying in a pool of blood inside the washroom.
“With difficulties, the minor narrated that a stranger had stormed the toilet door and forcefully defiled her while threatening of dire consequences if she called for help.” reads part of the report.
Because of the serious injuries sustained, the victim was referred to Kenyatta National Hospital from Gatundu Level V Hospital where she had been received. She is admitted in critical condition.
The National Police Service strongly condemns the cruel act of criminality meted on the minor and wishes her a speedy recovery.
“The family is assured that the Service will mobilize the necessary resources to ensure the culprit is promptly apprehended and charged.” the police stated.
The police further reminded the public that they have a societal and moral duty to protect children from harm.
