The Directorate of Criminal Investigations i has issued a warning to Hon Didmus Barasa, who has since gone into hiding after the brutal murder of one Brian Olunga, to surrender to the nearest police station within the next 6-hours.
According to a report by the DCI, Hon Barasa, is wanted for the cold blooded murder of Brian, whom he shot on the forehead killing him on the spot, on Tuesday, August 8, at Chebukwabi in Kimilili, Bungoma county.
A police report indicated that trouble started when DAP-Kenya party candidate Brian Khaemba visited the Chebukwabi polling station to witness the counting of votes.
He arrived at the polling station with his aide and driver and when he entered the polling station, he met the the incumbent MP for the Kimilili constituency.
After monitoring the exercise Khaemba is said to have opted to leave the station but police claimed that Barasa followed him in the company of 4 unidentified men and ordered Khaemba and his team not to leave.
However, Khaemba’s driver Joshua Nasokho defied the order and started the engine and as he was about to exit the polling station, the MP allegedly opened fire and shot Khaemba’s aide Brian Olunga.
“Hon. Didmus Barasa withdrew a pistol and aimed at Mr Khaemba’s aide namely Brian Olunga and shot him on the forehead where profusely bled,” the police report read.
Olunga was rushed to Kimilili sub-county hospital where he succumbed to injuries while undergoing treatment.
“A specialized team of sleuths based from the elite Crime Research & Intelligence Bureau and the Homicide department has been dispatched to augment the teams on the ground for his manhunt.” Said DCI in a statement released on Thursday
“Serious action will be taken against any person/s found to be harbouring the murder suspect.” DCI further stated
