An examiner at Alliance Girls High School was expelled on Thursday, January 12, after she was caught on surveillance cameras stealing garments that belonged to her colleagues.
The female examiner was caught stealing undergarments, blouses, and face towels.
An official at Alliance Girls High School confirmed to the media that the teacher had been handed over to the police after reviewing the video.
“Those in charge of the examination centre came for the CCTV video and reviewed it after which they went for the examiner,” the representative confirmed.
The female teacher took wet garments that were drying on a line. After further investigation, it was found that the examiner is a Kiswahili instructor working at one of the most prominent schools in the nation.
“The case was handled as a criminal matter and given the right attention by the security officials at the examinations centre,” the administration added
Alliance Girls High School security also revealed that the examiner was requested to formally write a statement about the claims.
Clothes were taken from a clothesline behind the girls’ dorm and the victims were called in to identify them.
Kiambu Police Station was notified by the school’s security team and assumed responsibility for the investigation.
But it’s unclear if the female teacher will be prosecuted or simply warned and given a second chance.
The occurrence took place one month after a police officer was caught on camera stealing at a school in Bomet County during Kenya Certificate of Secondary School (KCSE) examinations on Monday, December 5, 2022.
The cop was part of a team that was sent to invigilate the Kimulot High School exam center, but he was discovered rifling through teachers’ belongings.
