The National Police Service (NPS) has issued a warning to the public about scammers claiming to be able to get people into the police force.
This comes after an alleged circular that claimed the National Police Service Commission was aggressively recruiting new members was published on social media and revealed to be a scam. Since then, the service has said the circular is fraudulent and should be ignored.
“Our attention has been drawn to an advert circulating on the social media alleging that the National Police Service (Kenya Police Service and the Commandant National Police College Kiganjo) is conducting recruitment for the year 2022/2023.” reads part of a memo released by Police IG Japhet Koome on Tuesday, December 20th
“Please be informed that the said advert is fake, and the National Police Service has not called for any applications whatsoever.” it further read
The members of public are usually informed of any recruitment exercise into the Service through an advertisement in print media in the usual manner.
“We wish therefore to caution members of public not to fall prey to fraudsters. We take this opportunity to warn the perpetrators to desist from such criminal behavior, and those found culpable will be dealt with promptly in accordance with the law.” the Police boss stated.
