Monicah Malith, a third-year student at the esteemed University of Nairobi, has been elected as the President of the University of Nairobi Student Association (UNSA) for the academic year 2023/2024.
Hailing from South Sudan, Malith emerged victorious with a total of 25 votes, surpassing the competing teams of Gonda and Soi, who garnered 8 and 6 votes, respectively.
“I want to thank my team members for walking with me in this journey ” Elated Malith made her congratulatory statemen.
The election was carried out by an electoral college consisting of 3 representatives from each of the university’s 12 faculties. The official results were released on Saturday, the 25th of March 2023.
Malith, the 5th UNSA President will succeed the outgoing President, Miss Melvine Thogo, who has dutifully served her term. Thogo, took over from Mr Eddie Mwendwa, who assumed office uncontested .
It is noteworthy that Ann Mvurya was the first female President of the University’s Student Council, whose leadership was succeeded by Mwendwa.
