A document circulating online purporting to be from the Public Service Commission (PSC) and offering 1,000 pensionable jobs is fake.

A spot check was conducted to confirm that the 75-page document was in fact a tampered-with copy of the original, which had been provided by PSC in 2019.

The false document’s main selling point was the application deadline, which was changed from February 20 to February 23 by simply changing the font and size of the numerals.

A random search of the Commission’s website, which is supposed to provide links to all advertisements appearing in regional newspapers, yielded no results.

The file was altered to make it appear as though the PSC had advertised for trainer positions at TVET centers around the country.

The State Department for Vocational and Technical Training was in charge of the mass recruitment drive, which was aimed at graduates from a variety of fields.

Engineering, nutrition, dietetics, hospitality management, food and beverage, medical technology, and building design were all represented.

“Interested and qualified persons are requested to fill in one (1) PSC 2 (Revised 2016) application form which is available on the PSC website,” the statement read in part.

By March 11, 2023, students would have sent the single properly filled out form along with copies of their national ID cards and academic and professional certifications to the institutions they wished to join.

Individuals hired for Group J or Group K positions would receive permanent, pensionable employment with a starting pay of between Ksh29,190 and Ksh46,230 per month.

In addition to the regular salary, benefits, and paid time off that government employees get, they will additionally receive a housing allowance at the appropriate amount. On top of that, they will receive 30 annual days off.

Diplomas and Bachelor’s/degrees Master’s are the maximum allowable levels of education set by the PSC. Kenyans have been cautioned to exercise caution in the face of such advertisements, since they may be part of a fraud scheme.
