The Salary and Remuneration Commission (SRC) has increased salaries for those who would clinch the seats on August 9 general election.
Senior government officials are also covered by the new hefty salary, which reportedly goes into effect right away according to a Gazette notice.
The SRC is mandated to review the State officers’ pay every four years.
The previous review took effect after August 2017 elections, triggering court suits after the commission cut the top officials’ salaries and allowances with the aim of saving Sh8.5 billion.
The incoming president will receive an increase of Ksh227,560, the Deputy President Ksh190, 875, the Cabinet Secretaries Ksh169, 900, while Ksh156,075 would be given to the Inspector General of Police, the Attorney General, and Principal Secretaries.
The next president’s monthly salary will be Ksh 1,443,750, while his deputy will take home Ksh 1,227,188.
Members of County Assemblies will receive Sh 144, 375, while Cabinet Secretaries, the Attorney General, and the Secretary to the Cabinet would each receive Sh 924,000.
